Day 14: To the Cinque TerreAn Italian Hill Town: We stopped at an Italian hill town for lunch. When we got there, we were treated with a special surprise--a traditional flag throwing competition. That was fun to see and reminded us of drumline competitions back home in the states. We enjoyed a nice meal with some of our tour mates at a pizzeria and capped it off with some fantastic gelato and a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside.
Cinque Terre Happy Hour: We hopped a train to Monterosso al Mare, our Cinque Terre city on the coast of the Italian Riviera. Our stay here was a scheduled "break" from the busier stops on the tour. Once we settled into our rooms, we christened our hotel with an impromptu happy hour picnic celebration. Everyone bought something different from the local grocery store and brought it to the hotel patio for some extended time together. While this was not an official group meal, we were all excited about the idea. A couple group members even set up a makeshift music system with a cell phone and external speakers. This sparked a little dance competition that we all enjoyed . . . what a fun group! |
