Day 21: Forever in LoveA Little More Paris: While some of our tour mates caught flights back home early this morning, some of us stayed on a little longer. We decided to take Rick's advice and stay at least one more night. This gave us one more full day to explore parts of Paris we hadn't yet seen. This was a good decision!
Luxembourg Gardens: We took another walk (of course) and headed to the Luxembourg Gardens. It was huge and really neat. We saw beautiful trails, runners, people reading on benches, and families letting their kids play on the playground or swimming pool. We didn't feel like tourists; we felt like Parisians. The Shakespeare Company: We found our way to the Shakespeare Company book store to connect with authors of American past . . . Hemmingway, Fitzgerald and the like. It was inspiring to stand in the same places that they wrote some of the most iconic pieces of fiction in American history. We even saw some young writers sitting in the historic room trying to soak in the muse of writers past. It was very cool. Paul likes to write, but today, he sat down to read a little instead under the windows of this famous building. Our Love Forever: Our last big stop was at the bridge of locks that spans the Seine. We bought a lock in a little shop by the bridge, wrote our names on it and locked it to the bridge. Paul then tossed the key into the river, pledging his love to Pam forever. While we didn't need a lock and key to signify it, it certainly was romantic! Our love for each other will never end, nor will our fond memories of this trip, the places we've visited and the people we've met. This trip has been all we had hoped and more! |
